  1. EU Parliament approves AI Act. The European Parliament has approved the AI Act, a landmark piece of legislation that aims to regulate the development and use of artificial intelligence in the European Union. The AI Act sets out a number of ethical principles for AI, including the need for AI to be used in a way that respects human rights and fundamental freedoms.
  2. AI used to voice John Lennon in last Beatles record. Researchers at the University of Sheffield have used AI to create a new recording of John Lennon singing a song that he never finished. The song, titled “Grow Old with Me,” was originally written by Lennon in 1973, but he never recorded it. The researchers used AI to create a model of Lennon’s voice based on recordings of his other songs.
  3. Meta’s new voice synthesis AI. Meta has unveiled a new AI model that can generate realistic and human-like voices. The model, called “Bard,” can be used to create voices for a variety of purposes, including customer service chatbots, audiobooks, and video games.
  4. Advances in generative AI. There have been a number of recent advances in generative AI, a type of AI that can create new content. For example, researchers at Google have developed a new generative AI model called “DALL-E 2” that can create realistic images from text descriptions.
  5. Democratization of AI. AI is becoming increasingly democratized, meaning that it is becoming easier for people to use AI without having to be experts in computer science or machine learning. This is being driven by the development of low-code and no-code AI tools that make it possible to build AI applications without writing any code.
