As we started to recruit for our offshore office, what we found going through hundreds of CVs was astonishing.
- Globally nothing has changed; everyone is happy seeing videos than reading through the requirements.
- Applicants must show more competitiveness in showing what they have done than applying to a job post without understanding if it matches their experience. Read and read the requirement, reread your CV, find out if you have missed something in your experience that matches the requirement, then update it and send it. Your time worth spending updating your CV will give great results.
- Your CV will never be kept by the assessor and used later, it will be destroyed or deleted if not suitable, and when a new requirement comes, we will first call our favourite candidate and go through our favourite candidates who we placed before and are best in their trade than looking at the CV which we obtained. Technology and requirement change rapidly, and most importantly, GDPR also never allows us to save your CV indefinitely, and there is a whole lot of procedure to it. This means sending your CV only if you feel fit for the role.
In larger organisations, CVs sent are passed through a system that filters out and removes noise; in small and mid-sized organisations, we do it partially automated and mostly manually.
To make your CV seen, ensure you create an impression in the first 5 seconds (Same 5-second rule as YouTube Advertisement).
